School Supply List Dear Parents: Welcome to the Jackson Hole MiddleSchool Parent Page! As theprincipal of the Middle School, I want you to know how much I value yourinvolvement in your child’s education. Parents play a crucial role in theirchild’s educational success. Checkingon homework, asking questions about what they are studying, encouragingreading, and conversations about current events all help your child. We alsoappreciate parents who have the time to volunteer in school. Please check out our Media Center pagefor appropriate web sites that will help your child with research, as well aseducational sites that they may enjoy going to. Homework: We provide an agenda for your child to write assignments down, and teachers have either blogs with homework assignments and information onthem, or include that information in emails that are sent home to you on aregular basis. Students should notbe confused about any of their homework assignments! Teachers know that homework is an important part oflearning, as it reinforces what is taught in school and provides feedback tothe teachers on how well students are learning. Parents who set clear expectations that homework isimportant and must be done help their child be successful. Have a quiet placefor homework to be done, ask questions about what they are working on, andanswer questions when they arise. If your child is not able to do most of thehomework assignment independently – after many attempts, then let the teacherknow that your child really did try, but that it was too difficult. Volunteering: Participation does not end after the elementary grades; yourinvolvement here at JHMS does make a difference. Whether you volunteer in ourMedia Center on a regular basis or help out with a special project, we offer awide variety of options for you to be a part of our school that goes wellbeyond "cookies and punch" and chaperoning. (Although chaperoning ourdances can be lots of fun!) Your involvement strongly impacts both the qualityand quantity of learning opportunities for our students.
Parents Involved in Education: The first Wednesdayof every month I hold an informal meeting with parents to discuss what ishappening at the Middle School. This is a great opportunity to hear about major initiatives, studentachievement and for me to answer your questions and discuss your concerns. These meetings are extremely helpful tome in terms of getting your input and suggestions. Please feel comfortable to direct your questions, concernsor suggestions to me, Jean Coldsmith by phone: 733-4234 or email: jcoldsmith@teton1.k12.wy.us
